Good voice and narrative. I was at first confused with the story about the little army men, but it came to be much clearer as the piece went on. This should definitely be aired around Gay Pride month! Shows that you just have to be a little non-judgmental to know what it means for others to have gay pride.
This is a well-thought out piece that should be picked up and put on air during the month of June. Beatty has an approachable, friendly style and he's able to state the obvious in ways that won't ruffle too many feathers, (and while I'm not against feather ruffling, sometimes people listen better when their ears aren't stuffed with feathers.) Great piece.
An excellent 'take' on tolerance by a straight person. Real food for popular to PC to bash gay/lesbian folk in the media. This is refreshing! Gay Pride can mean many things to many people, but confuses the hell out of heterosexual people. Here's a fellow who knows what it means to him and what it should mean for the rest of us. His non-threanted, non-judgmental (and amusing viewpoint) is sets perfect tone and reminds the listener that it's okay to be different.
