I think that this piece thouroughly covered one side of the issue, but the piece kind of made it seems as if the military recruiters are preying on students who do not have any other options. I found the story of the student who left culinary school interesting, but I was confused as to why he would enlist if he did not want to go to war. This piece showed me a perspective that I have not seen, but it overall seemed to be pro military, and I think that differing opinions would have added to the piece.
Well done, informative piece on a timely and important subject. The reporter speaks with objective clarity and the moral authority of a young person speaking to other young people that are contemplating military service.
The subject is controversial and I admire Kathryn for taking it head on. As someone that is decidedly pro-peace, I don’t usually listen to “the other side”. Although I got the answers I wanted, I wasn’t entirely satisfied. The piece is well structured and the interviewing excellent, but when tackling such a contentious issue, I think it’s of utmost importance to present both sides of the coin. Whether you're for or against, this a piece well-worth listening.
