Joey's Phone Call Home
I love this piece so much because it shows a connection with a family whose going threw a problem. The family problem is that Joey, the speaker, is going to rehab for a unknown reason. But even though he is facing something like this he is still trying to seek support from his family and his family is giving it. This piece shows love and realness. Not a lot of family?s show this bond and love, but this one do and I admire that
Family Vacation
This piece is awesome because it?s actually giving a teenage perspective of a typical family trip. Jesse, the speaker is awesome in this piece because she pulls a memory and gives the actual moods and tone of the piece. It?s hilarious because the speaker sounds cynical about life and is just trying to survive a family ride without saying a word. The speaker also makes you envision that you are there, in the car, just from hearing the conversation with the mother, the description of the scenery and once again the mood of the piece. This piece is awesome.

Party Chinese People
This is piece is good because the speaker points out not all Asian people are the same and people should not expect many things from you just because of your ethnicity. It?s a matter of how you were raise and what kind environment you grew up in. Not all Asians are smart and not all of them are dumb, all people are different in there own ways and that?s what this piece is saying.
Autumn's Story
This is very touching piece. I respect Amy so much for telling her personal life story. It hurts to know that she got pregnant in her teens years, tried to have the baby, and found out that her baby was going to die within a couple of months within birth. This piece is very emotionally because you can hear in her voice how shy she is to speak about her life. It hurts know people go threw pregnancy and living a hard life at such a young age. This piece can give listeners reasons why to slow down while developing your teen years because you never know where you might end up.
Eighteen and Voting
?I love it?. This piece because it is short, simple and cogent. Listening to this piece make me want to change my decision on politics. I feel that politics is a waist of time and that you really do not have a say in what really goes on. But listening to these kids, THEY DON?T CARE. They want to have people listen to them no matter what. These teens support reason on why they want to vote and feel the urge to fight until they get that special man, or that new upcoming woman on board.
This piece is amazing because it touch base with what teenagers think about some point in there academic career. Sarah Smith was letting listeners know that it is hard to go threw high school having baggage. To face her trouble with her parents getting ready to split up and family members being in the hospital can really put an effect on you. What I love best about this piece is that even though the piece is about bad times Sarah makes an ending saying that she is going to do her senior year and not drop out of school. She proves to listeners that you have to survive the bad times to get to the good times
What are we ever going to do with all these gay people?
This piece is amazing, I feel this way because the speaker is trying so hard to prove a point for those who do not understand the gay life. He states that he is a gay man questioning the gay life. He feels that not all gay people are meant to have sex, that there are homosexual people who can make it out there without a companion. He then goes into saying many gay people do not have to have sex to be gay. They can put an affect to society in many different ways and still be gay. The whole point of the piece is to inform people that the gay life is another version of the straight life. Heterosexual people can be asexual as well as homosexual people can be asexual. That maybe some people are better off by themselves doing successfully in a career and maybe not in a relationship.
I love this piece, it is amazing. This is short, funny and something people can relate too. I have had a similar experience and when I have encountered a myspacer, she thought I was crazy, but then we hit it off. This piece is real because of the connection it has to listeners.
After listening to the piece from Tre Joyner I was thrilled. Based on all the information that was given to support his topic was amazing. In his piece he talked about how the ?N? word and how it should not be band. Reason for that being is because even without the term you can still make a racist insults. Listening to this piece made me have change of heart banning the ?N? word because like Mr. Joyner has said, there will be always something to replace the ?N? word with another adjective. Tre Joyner supports his opinion very well. He says that people use the word as a habit. Comparing the word to a cigarette, you know it is bad for you, but you do it anyways. Like the ?N? word, has a bad meaning, but yet people still use the word.
This piece is brilliant.
Browsing threw PRX pieces I came across the piece College bound. College bound is a piece about a former high school student trying to make a choice between Cornell University and Howard University. There were questions of why to choose between Cornell and Howard, when Cornell is an Ivy League college. That immediately drew me in because even though I am a freshman in high school, I am trying to look for good colleges out there. People tell me to apply to a black school because many successful African-Americans such as Oprah Winfrey made it big. Cornell has also made a lot of successful people and off the bat; right away people will give a positive responses to you once you put that name on your resume. This piece makes you question opportunity and what to do with it. This piece is awesome because of the information they hit in terms of history of both schools. The only thing I think this person needs to work on is bringing more action to their piece, because at first I thought it was going to be boring. I though this because the tone of the speakers voice. Other than that this piece is awesome.
I like this piece because Allison makes me feel comfortable in my skin. People tell me a lot that I act too white and that I need to associate and learn more ways of black people, to become ?Ghetto?. But really there are many different ways of being African American. She puts a situation out there that I can relate to. She explains to listeners that African Americans can be intelligent people who do not act ghetto and use slang. Then she goes into saying that people think she acts Caucasian because she does not use slang, or act ghetto. Allison?s mother feels that her daughter should hang around black people. But Allison does not see it that way. She sees it for the more important things, that people should not have friends just for their race, but for their personality. The only thing that the piece is missing is energy; the piece needs music and another tone of voice. But the piece still remains good.
The title made me think that the piece was about a silly kid who just wanted to pull a joke. But once I heard the dark music I knew he was talking about a serious matter. When he first spoke, I knew that he had to prove a point. His tone fits his whole story very perfectly. Ryan explains to listeners reasons why marijuana and other such drugs can be addictive and can affect the way you look, and at the end, he talks about looking for help in rehab. His experience influenced me from everything he said: from becoming an addict, to going homeless to later getting arrested. Listening to this piece gave the real deal of the cause and effect of drug use.
