I found this piece to be a surprisingly appealing bit of American history, about a subject that I'd never heard mentioned before. The River Rat existence and culture typify the just-do-is attitude of an earlier age. The report is an interesting blend of facts and first person interviews.

A well done piece exploring a skilled musician's efforts to link his music to the sounds of the wilderness. The samples of music in the wild are captivating and the earnest reach of Mr. Winter has an honesty that comes through strongly.
A funny look back at boyhood in the city, the pros & cons of friendship, and finding your own adventures. An amusing story with a little "grimace factor".

Review of Music from the Ether
Brief history of an instrument that everyone knows the sound, if not the name. Interesting story and sounds, told well.
